Flight Simulators
User Experience Design and Research
Role: Industrial Design and Product Coordination
Overview: As a former UX Researcher and designer at NASA, I had a range of responsibilities ranging from leading research logistics to designing interfaces ( and a little bit of everything in between ) depending on the various projects I was assigned to.
Teams:
-
Cognitive Engineering Lab ( Aviation Research )
-
Human Computer Interaction ( Aerospace Research )
Particular job situation: I was in a privileged position within NASA, where contractually, I divided my time between two user centric teams. Within large organizations this is not a common position to be in, so this allowed me to gain insight on processes from both teams and implement functioning processes such as communication channels and documentation methods from one team into another in order to improve the team's operation.
Roles and Responsibilities:
-
Understand user requirements and focus on designing and developing systems that were of high value towards data collection within specific areas of investigation.
-
Work closely with a wide range of team members such as developers, administrators, stakeholders and users in order to coordinate and effectively execute specific goals within investigation processes and simulations.
-
Understand project priorities, design systems and execute project requirements in order to successfully accomplish metrics and data collection goals in order to produce adequate reports and communication towards stakeholders.
-
Conduct user research and feedback collection in order to build informed system and products that reflected the user and stakeholder's specific needs.
